HELP!
I started medifast 10 days ago. I had a great work week but for some reason the weekends are killing me. I know now that I am an emotional eater but I feel like I'm withdrawing from an addiction. I'm cranky, nervous, and emotional. Is this normal?

Yes, perfectly normal. Your body is going through detox. And you are breaking your carb addiction. Naps, hot baths and pickle spears may help. And, there's hope! You will feel better soon, believe me! I was miserable and now I feel wonderful! :)

Food can be an addiction, just like drugs or alcohol. Sugar is just as tough to withdraw from as any other substance that a person has been abusing. Leaning on excess food as a coping mechanism for a long time, and then NOT being able to anymore, is a tough situation for all of us. For years I'd reach for something to eat when I felt frustrated, angry or lonely. With MF, I couldn't DO that anymore, and let me tell you, I was in one whopping BAD mood for quite some time! It passes, though, when you stay committed to making this work for you.

The weekends can be mighty tough at first. The key to getting thru the weekends is to NOT change your weekday schedule at ALL. Treat Saturday & Sunday just like you treat Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Once you accept the terms of the program and stop fighting it by eating off plan, THEN you settle down & allow the routine to set in.

Have faith, patience, and most of all, stay committed to YOURSELF, one day at a time.
Hugs
Chris

I also went through what you are feeling. You're going through withdrawal from carbs & caffeine & all the bad stuff we have been consuming. Plan you're meals close together every 2 - 3 hours apart and find thing s to occupy your time & your mind. It will pass. Just be strong & you can do it..

Perfectly normal. I was pretty cranky for about 2 weeks. Plus you're exhausted from eating far fewer calories than before.

You ARE withdrawing from an addiction. With major detox going on. It's going to be a marvelous and life-changing physical, psychological, and emotional rebirth. Hang on. The best is yet to come!!

Consider times like these as "milestones" you can look back on and commend yourself for getting through them! It will get easier once you're in "the habit" and have more successes under your belt. Wishing you great success!

My first weekend was rough for me. I wasn't going through physical withdrawal as much as I was going through habit withdrawal. I missed having my glass or two of wine Friday and Saturday night. It was a way I liked to relax and unwind. I actually went to bed early both nights because I couldn't stand it.
This weekend is much better for me. I also exercised last night and tonight, so I always feel better after that.
